Numbering all the Bones Making Herself Come True

Eulinda is constantly questioning how she can make herself come true since Moll told her she needed to...just as Mr. Hampton explained how people set things in motion. Eulinda likes the way Moll says it better. Why?

Relate this to your own life. How will YOU make yourself come true?

How do you feel Eulinda will make herself come true? Why didn't the chance to go with Mrs. Hunt appeal to her as a way to do this? Why did she have to stay? What do you think she can possibly do to make herself come true?

  1. I think she wants to stay because of Neddy, but I would have given up on him by now. I also think she wants to stay because of Mr.Hampton, but if she was smart she'd get out of Pond Bluff while she could and just get to freedom. I know it has something to do with making herself come true, but she's already helped Janie and her baby and her husband to escape, so I don't really understand why she must stay after all of the horrible things that have happened there.

  2. I think Eulinda likes Moll's analogy better because it is more poetic.

I will make myself come true by striving to meet my dreams. I want to be a music video director so in order to make this come true I will need to take Multimedia classes and Music Industry related classes.

Sadly, I am not sure if Eulinda will be able to make herself come true. As a slave, you are kept cut off from the world. To make herself come true she would have to disagree or go against Mistus or Mr. Hampton, which by doing this, could get her into deep deep trouble. At one point, Eulinda wanted to eat dinner with her slave family but was expected to with someone else. If she disobeyed him and ate with her slave family she could have been beaten or maybe something even worse.

  3. She likes how Moll explains it more because she feels it is coming her own kind. I will make myself come true by followiing my dreams and going for what others don't believe in. I think she will make herself come true by being free and working with that soldier in the old prison/ Andersonville. She stayed because she believed that was where she belonged and she wanted to wait for her brother to come out of the prison if at all possible. She can possible make herself come true by mouthing off to misstress.

  4. I think she wants to stay because of Neddy. I wouldn't stay around that long. I will make myself come true by following my heart and doing what is right. She can make herself come true by forgetting that neddy will come back and go on with reality.

  5. I think she like's how Moll explain's it more because it's coming "from her own people." I don't understand why Eulinda would want to stay at Pond Bluff. but maybe because she's still waiting for Neddy and wants to stay with Mr. Hampton. i will make myself come true by achieveing my dreams and making the people that love me proud.
